Riad Dar Cordoba
Traditional Fes riad with ornate decorations, well-appointed rooms and Moroccan breakfast
Stepping through the modest door of Riad Dar Cordoba is like stepping back in time. Nestled in the Batha district of Fès, just steps from the ancient alleyways that form the city’s labyrinthine core, this riad is a resting place for travellers where mint tea is served on arrival and Moroccan hospitality is guaranteed.
The riad’s architecture evokes strong Moorish Andalusian design with carved plaster, an open courtyard and cedarwood doors. Each space was crafted centuries ago with traditional mosaics and woodwork and now has simple comforts such as air conditioning and free Wi-Fi too. Breakfasts are unhurried affairs - a generous Moroccan spread of fresh fruit, various breads, local cheeses, olives and sweet preserves - served with mint tea.
Reviews from recent guests consistently highlight the warmth and attentiveness of the riad’s hosts who organise transport, suggest routes through the medina, recommend restaurants and even (in our case) pay for our parking when the guard came knocking.
Despite its central location just minutes on foot from Bab Bou Jeloud and the winding souks, Riad Dar Cordoba maintains a sense of quiet refuge. The riad lies tucked off a residential street where life unfolds slowly and without pretence. You aren’t just close to the pulse of Fez, you're embedded within its daily rhythms and invited to absorb its history and culture.
