Hello

Having graduated from Durham University in the summer of 2025 with First Class Honours in Classics, I am now studying the LMM Law Conversion with SQE 1 at BPP University aspiring to become a corporate solicitor. Despite my best efforts to the contrary and having explored almost every other career path, I must always have been destined to go down this route because law is the only thing that truly clicks. As I navigate the rigorous demands my legal studies, I have come to understand that pursuing a career in law will not only provide me with a sense of achievement but also keep me motivated and focused in my life.

 

Alongside these more serious aspirations though, I also have a real passion for travel and love to explore the world, meeting new people and cultures as I go. More than this, I love to write and am currently working towards a postgraduate diploma in travel writing at the London School of Journalism. To combine these two facets of my non-working life, I felt inspired to create this blog as a vital and necessary creative outlet - one that allows to escape into the enchanting world of travel while expressing my thoughts, reflections and experiences. The Grand Detour, therefore, is designed to help hone my writing skills and build up a portfolio of articles to share with you that will hopefully be interesting, informative and entertaining.
