Allamanda Boutique Hostel, Diani

Opened this summer (2025), Allamanda Boutique Hostel is the most exciting new player on the budget-friendly scene in Diani. The stunning pale blue colour scheme that runs throughout blends the vibes of a Greek villa with the Kenyan coast to create a perfect pocket of escapism set just back from the beach.

The public spaces are all thoughtfully crafted with an impeccable attention to detail. In the extensive garden is a pristine pool surrounded by sun beds and shade that invite the guests to linger and enjoy. Likewise, the fully equipped games room and bar make spending time in the hostel an experience in itself. In addition to the peaceful atmosphere, activities are available every day from a free scuba diving trial in the pool to yoga and much more.

There are two dorms offering a mixed or a female-only option that make Allamada a very affordable destination, while eight private rooms offer a higher-end alternative. Some have ensuite bathrooms and other have shared facilities, but all rooms and dorms are beautifully decorated with locakable storage, AC, wifi and access to the shared kitchen and dining area. Complimentary breakfast is served every morning and there are a plethora of great seaside eateries just a stones throw away if cooking in the Allamanda kitchen is not for you.

Plans to expand are already being realised as three new long-term lets are being finished as well as further accommodation for group leaders who often bring volunteers to the coast. Beyond this latest development are further plans to build a brand new accomodation block at the bottom of the garden and set up a diving school on site. The future of this new hostel is exciting indeed and offers young people a fantastic new choice when visiting Diani.
